Callide Wind Farm
DP Energy Australia is progressing the development of the Callide Wind Farm, a 430 MW wind energy project located approximately 22 km north-northeast of Biloela and 75 km west-southwest of Gladstone in Queensland. Since commencing early-stage development, the project has achieved a number of important milestones across planning, technical assessment, and approvals.
The proposed Callide Wind Farm includes:
- Approximately 70 wind turbines, each rated up to 6.2 MW and with a maximum tip height of 250 m
- On-site substations for electricity collection and export
- Wind monitoring masts (temporary and permanent) for energy resource assessment
- Internal access tracks and site drainage
- Access via the Dawson Highway
- Temporary construction facilities such as compounds and wash-down areas
The project has been designed with a 30-year operational lifespan, after which equipment will be decommissioned or upgraded, in line with evolving best practice and regulatory requirements.
Key approvals secured to date include:
- Development Approval granted by the Queensland Government in September 2023
- Approval under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) obtained in January 2025
DP Energy has undertaken detailed environmental and technical investigations to inform the project’s layout and ensure a responsible approach to development. This includes engagement with key government departments and local stakeholders to identify and manage site-specific constraints.
