Job Description
DP Energy is seeking an Environment Project Manager to support its development-phase offshore wind project in Atlantic Canada, and also to support DP Energy’s future portfolio of development-phase offshore and onshore wind projects in Atlantic Canada. The successful candidate will ideally have existing renewables and / or onshore wind Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and consenting experience and will be able to apply this across DP Energy’s existing and future portfolio.
We are especially looking for any candidates with a marine or coastal EIAR background, who are able to apply their detailed understanding of these environments to our projects.
This is a key role reporting to the Head of Development and CEO.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for planning and implementing an EIAR and Consenting Strategy which is benchmarked against proven national experience having regard to equivalent scale infrastructure projects.
- Proactively implement the Strategy maintaining an active risk and opportunity register for the Senior Management Team.
- Project Manage EIAR Consultant(s) appointed to provide Lead EIAR services.
- Delivery of EIAR for projects in this portfolio.
- Project Manage the Development Consent Application(s) for projects in the Atlantic Canada Offshore Wind portfolio.
- Lead strategic discussions with Regulators on the new processes/regulations being drafted.
- Project Manage other licence and permit applications relating to onshore & offshore site investigations for projects in the Atlantic Canada Offshore Wind portfolio.
- Supporting the Offshore Team in preparations for seabed and other applications.
- Procurement of and or provision of additional support for the Environment & Consenting work area as required.
- Management of terrestrial ecology and other long-lead surveys for on and offshore wind projects in Atlantic Canada.
- Pro-actively providing technical advice and strategic direction to the Project Team.
- Attend meetings with selected stakeholders and rights holders as agreed with the Senior Management Team.
- Representation of DP Energy in key industry networks incl. MRC, MEA, CanREA & others.
- Contribution to wider DP Energy Team as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- 5 year relevant experience in Canadian EIAR and/or consenting.
- Educated to Degree-level in an environmental or other relevant science or engineering discipline.
- Working knowledge of the IAAC, DFO, ECCC and other regulatory processes.
- Experience of working pro-actively with regulators, consenting authorities, statutory stakeholders and non-statutory stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail, written and oral communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Member of a relevant professional organization.
