DP Energy Australia – Project Engineer

Job Description

DP Energy Australia (DPEA) is recruiting a Project Engineer to join the DP Energy Australia development team responsible for the development of a portfolio of renewable energy sites in the National Electricity Market.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing development support to the team in relation to site identification, assessment, design, connection and consent of utility scale renewable energy projects (primarily Wind, Solar and BESS). The Project Engineer will be involved in a broad variety of tasks from developing site designs, to conducting in field site surveys and meeting with key stakeholders such as landowners and local authorities and managing external resources where relevant.

Duration: Permanent Full Time

Responsibilities

  • Project design and definition
  • Site walk-over surveys
  • Managing and creating spatial data
  • Generation of project layouts
  • Analysing raw wind speed and solar irradiance data
  • Project yield modelling
  • Collaboration with and management of suppliers, consultants and contractors
  • Engagement with host landowners and stakeholders
  • Engagement with authorities (councils, TNSP’s, regulatory bodies)
  • Industry networking
  • Out of hours work and travel to projects intermittently (managed flexibly)

The Project Engineer will report directly to the Head of Projects and receive supervision from a Senior Engineer.

Experience

Essential

  • A graduate of an engineering or relevant science discipline
  • 1-5 years of experience in a relevant field (Wind, Solar, BESS or equivalent)
  • Ability to learn new software packages
  • Basic knowledge or willingness to code
  • The ability to manage own workload and work autonomously at times
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities
  • Good communication skills
  • Driver’s licence

Desirable

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Skills in mapping and GIS
  • Skills in yield modelling for solar and wind projects
  • ACAD experience
  • Electrical systems design and GPS studies knowledge/experience
  • Civil engineering knowledge/experience
