Job Description

DP Energy is recruiting for a Graduate Engineer (Electrical/Electronic/Renewable Energy) to join the DP Energy Team involved in the development of a portfolio of renewable energy projects across Ireland, UK, Canada, and Australia. Our current portfolio includes onshore wind, offshore wind, tidal, solar and battery technologies at various stages of development.

The successful candidate will join a Team working at the leading edge of the energy transition actively developing zero-energy projects. The candidate will report to DP Energy’s Grid Manager and be responsible for providing support in relation to electrical design elements of the renewable projects.

Responsibilities

  • The Graduate Engineer will focus on electrical design for large-scale renewable energy generation projects, to support DP Energy’s international business strategy.
  • Responsibility for carrying out initial grid capacity analysis for new potential sites, and involvement in renewable energy project site selection and designs. Analysis to include initial electrical design, cable and equipment sizing, losses analysis, costings etc. 
  • Responsible for staying updated on upcoming relevant grid-related policy, grid reinforcement project updates, and generation projects in the markets of interest, and reporting back to the Grid and Engineering Teams.
  • Preparation of technical notes, reports, and presentations to support DP Energy’s stakeholder engagements and internal reporting.
  • Represent DP Energy in relevant industry bodies, addressing topics such as solar, wind, batteries, grid, and markets.
  • Participate in internal and external training sessions to keep up to date with the renewable industry and electrical requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop new grid and engineering Scopes of Works and Proposals  for consultant studies, surveys, and designs.  
  • Support the Grid Manager in interactions with the system operators, consultants, contractors, and suppliers. 
  • Assist the Grid Manager in project management and reporting tasks. 

Requirements:

Essential  

  • A degree in Electrical, Electronic, Energy Engineering or a related field, with a keen interest in renewable energy; 
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience in the energy industry, preferably in a similar role; 
  • Proficiency in preparing technical reports;  
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet project deadlines;  
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with team members and with external organisations; 
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills. 

Desirable

The ideal candidate would have experience in the following areas:  

  • The renewable energy sector and grid connection process; 
  • Grid connection and electrical balance of plant design for renewable projects;  
  • Transmission and/or Distribution Grid Code compliance experience in one or more markets;  
  • Technical assessment of equipment suppliers and definition of equipment design.

Location  

The role will be based in either DP Energy’s Cork City office or DP’s Buttevant office.
