Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park

DP Energy Australia, in partnership with global renewable energy leader Iberdrola, delivered the Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park – a landmark hybrid project combining wind and solar generation. Located approximately 8km southeast of Port Augusta in South Australia, the project leverages the region’s abundant solar radiation and strong afternoon winds to produce clean, reliable power.

The Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park includes:

  • 50 wind turbines generating 210 MW of capacity (each rated at 4.2 MW)
  • A 107 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) array comprising approximately 250,000 solar panels
  • A combined installed capacity of 317 MW
  • Connection to the Davenport substation via a 275 kV transmission line

As one of the first hybrid wind-solar projects of its scale globally, the Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park demonstrates the potential of integrated renewable technologies to maximise generation and grid efficiency. Construction and commissioning of the project were completed in 2022, with the facility now exporting electricity to the grid and contributing to South Australia’s energy transition.
